Day 71- To Her Dad

100 day writing challenge

I’ve been writing in this book to my daughter and it’s been a great journey. Today I realized that it was very mommy focused. Things I want to tell you, things you’ve taught me, etc etc. But I really haven’t said much about your dad- but today I did. Here’s a bit of what I wrote today… keep in mind,…

Day 70- Whining

#NewMomThoughts, 100 day writing challenge

Cheat Day again?! This is from facebook….and it was pulled from what I wrote in my book this morning. By the way, I woke up at 5am to feed the baby. I stayed up and sat at the computer to write. I wrote with no agenda and magic happened. When I blabber on, something brilliant eventually comes out. I looked…

Day 69- ‘Do Day

100 day writing challenge

I got my hair done in record time- one hour. I was in and out in exactly one hour. Wash, condition, blow dry, trimmed ends, buzz cut in the back/sides and flat iron.  Magic was done today. I was pleased. Baby girl took zero naps so I’m pooped.  Hashtag: That’s all she wrote

Day 68- Purse or Nah

100 day writing challenge

I think it’s a shame that men only carry around (1) a wallet and (2) keys while women pack a days worth of toiletries in a purse. Most times things in there are items to create or maintain a look of perfection.  When did we make this up? Why are we carrying so much? Oh and why are men’s pockets…

Day 67- This App

100 day writing challenge

The laziness that having the WordPress app allows for this writing challenge is astounding. I will do better with the next few days. I’m literally in bed (as I was for the past 50+ days) writing an entry.  PS: as I write my book, I will only report that “I wrote today” or some variation on this site as not…

Day 66- A Message From A Dream

100 day writing challenge

In my dream I was giving my friend advice but I think that advice was really got me.  I don’t remember the exact words but it had something to do with owning my power as a woman. I remember a part about “you’ve given birth, you’ve seen yourself do that so you need to step into the power you’ve seen…

Day 62- Red Table Talk

100 day writing challenge, Womanhood/Sisterhood

Inspired by Jada Pinkett Smith, her daughter and mother, my friend (who is expecting) created a RTT for other mothers in her life to come together. It was a beautiful gathering. I was the mother with the youngest child and there was a mother there with a 30+ year old child (our friend’s mom).  We shared advice, stories and overflowing…

Day 60- More Than One Cause

100 day writing challenge

There’s a lot of talk about the connection between vaccinations and autism.  I never thought much of it because the theory gained popularity from a celebrity.  I’m not writing to pick a side, but I think other factors could contribute to the surge in new cases of autism. We come into contact with so many dangerous substances all the time….

Day 59- Eureka!

100 day writing challenge

When it hits me I know. It hit me yesterday and now I know. I know the name of my book.  I know it like I knew the name of my app to locate Black-owned businesses: Around the Way. I know it like I knew the name of the fashion group I co-founded in college: The Echelon Fashion Society. Like…
